Giveaway Interview ALLURE by LEA NOLAN @Lea_Nolan @rockstarbktours @EntangledTeen

Worst. Summer. Ever.

Emma Guthrie races to learn the hoodoo magic needed to break The Beaumont Curse before her marked boyfriend Cooper's sixteenth birthday. But deep in the South Carolina Lowcountry, dark, mysterious forces encroach, conspiring to separate Emma and Cooper forever. When Cooper starts to change, turning cold and indifferent, Emma discovers that both his heart and body are marked for possession by competing but equally powerful adversaries.

Desperate to save him, Emma and her twin brother, Jack, risk their lives to uncover the source of the black magic that has allured Cooper and holds him in its grip. Face with the horror of a soul-eating boohag, Emma and Jack must fight to resist its fiendish power to free Cooper long enough to join their strengths and face it together, before it destroys them all.

About Lea:

Lea Nolan writes the kinds of stories she sought as a teen—smart paranormals with bright heroines, crazy-hot heroes, diabolical plot twists, plus a dose of magic, a draft of romance, and a sprinkle of history. She holds degrees in history and women’s studies concentrating in public policy and has spent nearly twenty years as a health policy analyst and researcher. She lives in Maryland with her heroically supportive husband and three clever children. You can learn more about Lea on her website, on Facebook, Twitter and on Goodreads

PLEASE WELCOME LEA TO BOOKHOUNDS

What is the first book you remember reading by yourself as a child?

Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I’m not sure if it was the first book I actually read, but it was definitely among the first. I was a very slow learner and only began reading in the third grade. But once I figure it all out, I couldn’t get enough. I remember imagining what the Oompa Loopas looked like and how they sounded. I loved Willy Wonka and wished I could visit that factory.

What are you reading right now?

I’ve been reading a lot of YA stories about Greek mythology lately. These include: Meg Cabot’s Abandon series, Aimee Carter’s Goddess Test series, and Jospehine Angelini’s Starcrossed series, to name just a few.

How does your garden grow?

Quiet lushly, thank you very much! My husband is an avid garden hobbyist so our yard is filled with gorgeous perennials. Though sadly we don’t have any silver bells, cockle shells, or pretty maids in a row. We do however have some fantastic peonies, irises, camellias, hydrangea, roses, and many other plants.

What is the last thing you Googled?

Hmmm, dashing to check my internet history, be right back….

I googled: “Big Liz’s Conjure Corner traditional conjure” because I was looking for an article that addresses a controversy that has bubbled up in the hoodoo/conjure community recently. Though I’m not a rootworker myself, I try to do as much research on hoodoo magic as possible to make sure I portray it accurately in my books. I found two articles that were very instructive—this one and this one—which are pure gold, not only because they provide important historical information, but they also help reassure me that I’m doing right by hoodoo.

What makes you cringe?

Mean people. I detest those who go out of their wait to hurt others.

A million thanks for letting me stop by! This was a lot of fun!

~Lea

  2. I detest mean people as well.
It takes just as much energy to be mean as it does to be kind.
