REVIEW: I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore

Description

Nine of us came here. We look like you. We talk like you. We live among you. But we are not you. We can do things you dream of doing. We have powers you dream of having. We are stronger and faster than anything you have ever seen. We are the superheroes you worship in movies and comic books—but we are real.
Our plan was to grow, and train, and become strong, and become one, and fight them. But they found us and started hunting us first. Now all of us are running. Spending our lives in shadows, in places where no one would look, blending in. we have lived among you without you knowing.
But they know.
They caught Number One in Malaysia.
Number Two in England.
And Number Three in Kenya.
They killed them all.
I am Number Four.
I am next.

MY THOUGHTS
LOVED IT

Take a group of nine children from a distant planet full of good and their evil opposition of resource using and abusing monsters add in a bit of teenage romance, some serious magical powers to find a new life on Earth.  The story starts with Four who is being stalked by warriors bent on killing all of the good aliens in order to take over Earth and its resources.  There is a fight to keep them from succeeding and Earth safe.

This story is pure escapism.  Yes, it is an old tried and true Sci Fi story about good versus evil with a bit of romance thrown in and directed at teens, but it was a fun way to pass a few hours.  A lot of people always take these books too seriously.  I don't think it is supposed to the NEXT GREAT NOVEL of the century, just something to take your mind off things and get lost in a wonderful adventure.  Can't wait for the next one!

“Mommy Brings Home the Bacon” is a heartwarming children’s book that explores the touching relationship between a young boy and his working mom.
Told from the young boy’s perspective, the whimsical narrative reflects a child’s imaginative interpretation of why mommy goes to work, and the beautiful bond that develops as a result.
Bringing simplicity and lightheartedness to an emotional topic, “Mommy Brings Home the Bacon” fosters a child’s appreciation for a working mother, while simultaneously easing the minds of moms who balance the difficult responsibilities of financially supporting their household and raising the children they so dearly love.

MY THOUGHTS
ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT

A truly adorable book about moms, working, and bacon that is just the perfect explanation for why moms have to work.  I wish I had a book like this to read to my son when he was little.  I always worked outside the home while he was growing up and Monday mornings were a struggle at times.  This book takes on those issues with humor and when the mother explains to her son that she needs to work to "bring home the bacon", her son wonders why since they really don't eat that much bacon.  This is a wonderful story that explains just what "bringing home the bacon" means.  Bonus Points:  Rosie the Dog  gets quite a few mentions and I bet she gets all the bacon she can eat!

She meets the director, who tells her about the two ways to send dreams. As a Dream Jumper, a person can jump into a dreamer’s dream, share a message, and participate. As a Dreamweaver, an entire dream can be created in a studio and sent to the dreamer. But Dreamweaving was outlawed decades ago, and the studio was boarded up. Thinking it’s her only way to reach out to her sister, Riley goes in search of the old studio. There she finds a ghost boy, who’s been creating and sending nightmares to people for years. In order to stop him and reach out to Ever, Riley is going to have to confront and overcome her own fears.
